Introductory Post

Hello everyone!  My name is Lindsay Yost and I am a senior at the University of West Georgia!  I am a Mass Communications major, with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing.  I am graduating in April and could not be more excited!  When I graduate, my ultimate dream is to become an event planner, more specifically, a wedding planner.  The first job I would like when I graduate is to work in a PR firm.  Outside of school, family is a huge part of my life.  I have two nieces, who are my world.  My first niece, Abigail, was born four months prematurely, and spent the first six months of her life in the hospital.  After several attempts at getting her to breathe on her own, the doctors only had one option left...and that was to undergo a surgery that implanted a trach in her.  Today, she is four-years-old and still has her trach, and she is literally the happiest girl in the world.  She has been through more struggles and challenges than most adults I know...and she has come out stronger than anyone.  My second niece, Allison, was born only a month early, so she had to stay in the hospital for only one month, instead of six.  She is now a little over a year old and she eats more than any other baby I know!  They're both adorable!  I also love crafts...mostly cross stitching.
One issue that really bothers me in today's world is the need for little girl's to be perfect.  I feel like the pressure for little girls to achieve perfection is so high.  There is one show on television that is called Dance Moms: Abbey Lee's Dance Company.  It is a show about five moms and their daughters and their dance instructor Abbey Lee.  The moms constantly fight with Abbey Lee...not only alone, but in front of the children.  Abbey Lee is extremely rude and harsh towards the children.  Even if the children do a really great job at a performance, she chews them apart and makes the girls feel like they have not achieved their best.  It is a horrible show, but people watch it all the time.  But, it is so rude and degrading towards little girls.

Article About Abby Lee

This is an interesting article about the dance company that I think shows it in the light that it deserves:
